Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco) filed a distribution rate case with the Maryland Public Service Commission on October 14, 2025, first seeking $133 million a year at a 10.5% return on equity; after dropping its forecasted test year it asked for $119.9 million. The commission put that request at $10.24 a month for the average residential customer, or 5.85% in Montgomery County and 5.79% in Prince George's County. Pepco said it needed the revenue to keep providing safe and reliable distribution service. On August 28, 2026 the commission authorized $50.9 million at a 9.40% return on equity and disallowed the White Flint project costs, so the average residential bill rises about $3.94 a month (2.25% in Montgomery, 2.23% in Prince George's), effective that day.
