  2. Dec 2026Decision expected · 76 days

We Energies (Wisconsin Electric Power) filed on April 1, 2026 for 2027 and 2028 rates. Its customer notice puts the 2027 increase for a residential customer using 660 kWh a month at $14.67, or 10.28%, before fuel costs ($13.35 with 2026 fuel costs factored in), the figure shown here, and another $8.69, or 5.52%, in 2028. The 4.7% (2027) and 4.5% (2028) figures in news coverage are the overall electric revenue increase across all customers, $175.8 million in 2027. The proposal depends on the commission approving separate data center tariffs, and the company expects new rates to start in January 2027.

Who sets We Energies's rates

We Energies is investor-owned, so it can change its base rates only by filing a rate case with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. The commission holds hearings and takes public comment before it rules, and it usually approves less than the company asks for. Fuel and other pass-through charges can change between rate cases.
